ABOUT South African Mint:
The South African Mint was established in 1890, after decision of the country's President Paul Kruger to establish national mint. It was opened on July 6, 1892 in Pretoria. The mint is responsible for all coins of the South African rand on behalf of the South African Reserve Bank. Most of the production of the mint is of circulation coins and commemorative coins. Also the world-famous Krugerrand gold coin is minted here since 1967.
