Pamětní
stříbrná mince v hodnotě 200 slovenských korun ražená při příležitosti
100. výročí uspořádání I. novodobých olympijských her v Řecku a
první účasti Slovenské republiky na Letních olympijských hrách.
Olympijské hry, nejvýznamnější sportovní událost světa, nás od
jejich obnovení v roce 1896 opakovaně každé 4 roky přesvědčují,
, že lidstvo má málo takových krásných svátků , které by mohly tradicí,
krásou a ušlechtilosti myšlenek soupeřit s tímto jedinečným dědictvím
antiky.
Jejich symbol – pět navzájem propletených kruhů různé barvy – vyjadřuje
touhu po sblížení národů všech světadílů. Jejich heslo: Citius,
altius, fortius (rychle, výš, silně) je výzvou pro všechny sportovce světa,
aby si změřily síly v rytířském duchu, aby si ve vítězství
uctili poraženého a v porážce hledali morální síly k budoucím
vítězstvím. Toto všechno by se mělo konat v duchu odkazu zakladatele
novodobých olympijských her Pierra de coubertina: „Není nejdůležitější
na olympijských hrách zvítězit, ale zúčastnit se jich, protože podstatné
v životě není dobývat, ale bojovat.“

The Olympic
Games, the most prestigious sporting event in the world, stayed every four
years since its revival in 1896, in proof that mankind has few festivals which
can compete in beauty and nobility of thought with this unique and ancient
tradition.
The Olympic symbol: five interlocking rings in different colors, expresses a
desire to bring together the nations from all the continents of the world. The
credo: citius, altius, fortius (faster, highner, stronger), is an appeal to
the sportsmen of the world to compete in a spirit of chivalry, so that winners
respect losers, and the losers will gain the moral strength for future victory.
All this should be done in the spirit of the message of the founder of the
modern Olympic Games Pierre de Coubertin: “At the Olympic Games, the
important thing is not to win, but to take part, since the main thing in life
is not to conquer but to struggle.

Die Olympischen Spiele,
seit deren Erneuerung im 1896 das bedeutendste Sportfest der Welt, überzeugen
uns jede vier Jahre, dass die Menschheit nur wenig solcherart schöne Feste
hat, die durch Tradition , Schönheit und Edelmut ihrer Ideen mit dieser
einzigartigen Erbschaft der Antik wetteifern könnten.
Das
Symbol der Spiele, fünf ineinander verschlungene verschiedenfarbige Ringe, äußert
die Hoffnung an die Annäherung der Völker aller bewohnten Kontinente. Deren
Lösung „Citius, altius, fortius“ (schneller, höher, stärker) ist eine
Herausforderung für alle Sportler der Welt, ihre Kräfte im ritterlichen
Geist miteinander zu messen, beim Sieg den Besiegten zu ehren und in der
Niederlage moralische Kräfte für zukünftige Siege zu suchen. Alles das
sollte dem Geist der Vermächtnisses des Begründers der modernen Olympischen
Spiele Pierre de Coubertin entsprechen: „Es ist nicht wichtig, an den
Olympischen Spielen zu siegen, sondern an diesen teilzunehmen, weil da
Wesentliche im Leben nicht zu erobern, sondern zu kämpfen ist.
